Advent of LOVE

31 For the Lord will not cast off forever, 32 but, though he cause grief, he will have compassion according to the abundance of his steadfast love;

33 for he does not afflict from his heart or grieve the children of men.

(Lamentations 3:31-34)

The permanent STEADFAST of God will preserve us in our temporary SUFFERING as we wait for the second advent of Christ.

  1. Though God may work severely, he always loves TENDERLY.

31 For the Lord will not cast off forever, 32 but, though he cause grief, he will have compassion according to the abundance of his steadfast love; (Lamentations 3:31-32)

4 Sing praises to the Lord, O you his saints, and give thanks to his holy name. 5 For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime.

Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning. (Psalm 30:4-5; cf. Isa 54:7)

  1. Trust the HEART of God when you cannot trace his HAND.

for he does not afflict from his heart or grieve the children of men. (Lamentations 8:33)

6 For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives; 10 They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. 11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. (Hebrews 12:6;10-11)
